PROJECT:

The Making of Peace Poetry Broadside Series is a response from poets who are working towards peace and goodwill in the world and want to see an end to the war in Iraq.

This project produced a series of finely designed broadsides to be displayed in independent bookstores, universities, and other venues across the US and internationally during National Poetry Month 2006.

Along with the displayed broadsides, a limited edition of broadsides will be produced and distributed free of charge to the public during literary and non-literary events.

Each broadside is 1 of 250 in a series of thirteen that were printed in a limited edition for The Making of Peace.  As of March 1st, 2006, 2295 US soldiers have been killed in the war with Iraq.  There are no accurate reports of how many Iraqi civilians have been killed, though estimates range from 28,000 up to 100,000.

The project is partially funded by a grant by the Puffin Foundation as well as by the generosity of others.

Series Editor:  Kelli Russell Agodon

The broadsides were designed by Anita K. Boyle, Egress Studio
and printed in Bellingham, Washington
